Senior Global Category Manager - Clinical Trials | Remote | We are supporting a leading global pharmaceutical client in the search for an experienced Senior Category Manager – Clinical Trial Procurement to join its Global Clinical Development Sourcing team….

This is a strategic, globally focused role for a procurement professional with strong experience in Clinical Trial Procurement, managing global CRO partners, and sourcing clinical development services within a pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO environment.

You will take ownership of global sourcing strategies, strengthen relationships with strategic suppliers and CRO partners, and drive improvements in cost efficiency, supplier performance, governance, and service delivery across international clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead global category sourcing strategies across clinical development services, supporting the successful delivery of interventional clinical trials.
• Manage and develop strategic relationships with global CRO partners, implementing robust supplier governance, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive end-to-end sourcing activity, including market analysis, supplier selection, due diligence, risk management, negotiations, and contract management.
• Identify opportunities to challenge existing ways of working, optimise sourcing strategies, and deliver improved commercial value.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams globally to align procurement strategies with clinical development requirements.
• Monitor clinical services markets, identify new suppliers and innovative solutions, and mitigate supply chain and category risks.
• Manage a high volume of sourcing requests, delivering competitive outcomes while maintaining compliance with industry standards and internal governance.
• Support the development of procurement colleagues through knowledge sharing, coaching, and mentoring.

Essential Experience & Requirements:

• Extensive experience in Clinical Trial Procurement, ideally within a global pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO environment.
• Proven experience managing global CRO partners, including strategic supplier relationship management, governance, and performance optimisation.
• Experience in global sourcing and procurement operations within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or Contract Research Organisation (CRO) sector.
• Hands-on experience supporting or running early-phase clinical trials involving Clinical Pharmacology Units. This is a mandatory requirement.
• Strong understanding of clinical development services, clinical sourcing markets and outsourced clinical trial models.
• Expertise across strategic sourcing, supplier analysis, commercial negotiations, contract management, compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Experience working on complex international projects and influencing senior stakeholders across multiple functions and geographies.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge established practices and drive change.
• Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Fluent English is essential; German language skills would be advantageous.

Location & Working Arrangements:

• Fully remote, open to candidates based anywhere in the UK or Ireland.
• Occasional business travel to Germany several times per year.
