Job summary

ESNEFT is seeking a Consultant in Geriatric & General Medicine at Ipswich Hospital. You will join a progressive Older People’s Medicine service with a 14 inpatient load, multi‑disciplinary teams and a major Epic implementation in 2025.

The post offers full-time, part-time or flexible options, a substantial salary £113,565–£150,569, and an enhanced welcome package including £12k and relocation support. Be part of improving patient care for older adults.

Qualifications

• MRCP or equivalent.
• Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Geriatrics and General (Internal Medicine) or within six months of CCT.
• Evidence of completion of higher specialist training.
• Knowledge of Geriatrics and GIM and the required specialist skills.
• Ability to take independent clinical responsibility within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to organise and manage staff and resources and prioritise complex demands.
• Flexible and cooperative approach to colleagues and team members.
• Evidence of research and publications in peer reviewed journals.
• Post Graduate Certificate in medical education or equivalent.
• Knowledge of NHS national agendas and implications.
• Evidence of subspecialist interest.
• Full Driving Licence and regular access to a car.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-led clinical leadership to an MDT on an Older Peoples Ward.
• Deliver ward rounds, daily rounds and relative meetings with junior staff.
• Take part in governance, teaching and training of junior colleagues.
• Cover on-call rotas and contribute to service development with Epic rollout plans.
• Participate in specialist clinics and contribute to high-quality patient care.
