Job summary

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust seeks a substantive Consultant in Geriatric & General Medicine at Ipswich Hospital. Full-time, part-time and flexible working options are considered; joining during rollout of Epic EPR in 2025, with a focus on community-based care and frailty services.

The post includes a generous enhanced welcome package of £12,000 and relocation support. You will lead a 14-bed Older People’s Ward, supervise junior doctors, and contribute to clinical governance

Qualifications

• MRCP or equivalent essential for eligibility.
• Inclusion on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT.
• Evidence of completion of higher specialist training.
• Knowledge of Geriatrics and General Internal Medicine.

Responsibilities

• General and subspecialty clinical leadership on an Older People’s Ward.
• Participation in weekly consultant led rounds and governance meetings.
• Delivery of clinical governance and development of care pathways with the MDT.
• Teaching and training of junior medical staff.

Education

MRCP or equivalent

GMC Specialist Register for Geriatrics/General Internal Medicine or within 6 months of CCT

Higher specialist training completed

UK Registration / right to work in NHS
