Job summary

East Cheshire NHS Trust is seeking an experienced physician to champion frailty care for older adults, using comprehensive geriatric assessment to improve outcomes. The role includes managing 12–14 patients on a 25-bed ward, supervising trainees and leading the ward MDT with support from the Acute Frailty Team.

The post offers a pathway to develop a weekly clinic tailored to interests, with involvement in ED/MAU assessments and education of medical staff and students.

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
• Applicants must have GMC registration (licence to practise)
• UK trained applicants should hold CCT or be within six months of award
• CESR candidates must have GMC confirmation of successful application
• Higher Degree/Management training course is desirable

Responsibilities

• Champion a frailty approach using comprehensive geriatric assessment for older adults with frailty
• Care for 12–14 patients on a 25-bed acute delirium/dementia ward and lead the ward MDT
• Provide supervision to trainees and senior reviews for ED/MAU patients
• Develop a weekly clinic aligned to interests of the candidate
• Participate in unselected acute medical take rota and ensure high-quality care and governance
