Job summary

WWL NHS Foundation Trust is seeking forward‑thinking Ageing & Complex Medicine Consultants to join the team in Wigan. The post offers a 10 PA job plan with potential for additional PA on negotiation, and involvement in both inpatient and outpatient elderly care services.

Applicants should have dual accreditation in GIM and Geriatric Medicine, with recent experience in comprehensive geriatric care, mentorship of junior staff, and willingness to engage in teaching and CPD activities.

Qualifications

• Must show commitment to development of Acute Medical services within the trust.
• Experience in teaching and supervising junior medical staff.
• Ability to work flexibly within a busy elderly care service.
• Participation in on‑call rotas may be required for senior roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide Consultant level care in Ageing & Complex Medicine.
• Support in-patient and outpatient streams across the Elderly Care service.
• Lead and coordinate MDTs, audits and CPD activities.
• Engage in teaching, research, and service development with link to Edge Hill University.
• Participate in on‑call rota for night and weekend duties as required.
