Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford seeks a (Senior) Scientist to translate metagenomic sequencing data into actionable clinical insights. You will design and evaluate computational methods, build AI/ML solutions, and work with bioinformaticians, data scientists, microbiologists and software engineers to deliver biomedical innovations.

You will contribute to scalable workflows, rigorous benchmarking, and robust software practices while addressing real-world infectious disease diagnostics

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or physics.
• Track record of developing computational algorithms or tools in the genomics space; AI/ML ownership at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evaluate novel computational algorithms for taxonomic classification and antimicrobial resistance.
• Develop ML/AI techniques to address pathogen genomics challenges in collaboration with scientists across EIT.
• Validate and benchmark methods using public and internal datasets; implement methods in scalable workflows; communicate results clearly to teams.
