Job summary

The Wernick Group is seeking a Major Repair Specialist to repair, overhaul and restore diesel and gas generator sets to the highest standards. The role emphasizes safe, efficient fault-finding across mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, with a focus on quality workmanship and timely delivery.

You will document repairs, prepare parts lists, and maintain records while adhering to company SHEQ policies. A full UK driving license and practical experience are essential.

Qualifications

• A full UK driving license.
• Proven experience repairing and maintaining diesel-powered equipment or generators.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience diagnosing engine, alternator and control system faults.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and service manuals.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements within an engineering environment.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Promote and actively support SHEQ standards at all times.
• Carry out major repairs, rebuilds and overhauls on diesel and gas generator sets.
• Strip, inspect and assess engines, alternators and associated components for repair or replacement.
• Reassemble equipment to manufacturer and company standards.
• Complete refurbishment activities on power generation equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Undertake repairs to mechanical, electrical and electronic systems as required.
