Qualifications

• GMC registration with a current licence to practise.
• Entry on GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for consultant appointment.
• Current licence to practise and full registration with GMC.
• Evidence of completion of specialist training and higher degrees if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for patients within the allocated specialty or service.
• Exercise autonomous consultant judgement within GMC standards and Trust policies.
• Provide visible clinical leadership and support safe decision-making, patient flow, escalation and discharge planning.
• Lead or participate in consultant ward rounds, post-take rounds, board rounds, clinics and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Ensure timely senior review of deteriorating or complex patients and arrange specialist advice or escalation when required.

Education

Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC

Evidence of completion of specialist training

Higher degree such as MD, PhD, MSc or equivalent

Additional specialty qualifications relevant to the assignment
