Job summary

Qualifications

• GMC registration is required or within six months of entry to the GMC Specialist Register.
• Enhanced DBS clearance is required with possible overseas clearance if lived abroad.
• Applicants must meet the GMC and Trust requirements for consultant posts.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for patients within General and Acute Medicine.
• Exercise autonomous consultant judgement within GMC standards, Trust policies, national guidance and the scope of the assignment.
• Provide visible clinical leadership and support safe decision-making, prioritisation, patient flow, escalation and discharge planning.
• Lead or participate in consultant ward rounds, post-take ward rounds, board rounds, outpatient clinics and MDT meetings.
• Ensure timely senior review of deteriorating or complex patients and obtain specialist advice, transfer or escalation when required.
