Job summary

East Cheshire NHS Trust in Macclesfield is seeking a Consultant Acute Medicine to join a growing team delivering acute care across MAU, SDEC and AMRU. The role combines clinical leadership with hands-on patient care and education for junior doctors.

You will work 10 sessions per week (full-time) with on-call duties, contribute to governance and service development, and help drive enhancements aligned with national guidelines and GIRFT recommendations.

Qualifications

• Consultant level with NHS experience in acute medicine.
• Leadership and teaching responsibilities for junior doctors.
• Experience across MAU, SDEC and AMRU.
• Commitment to clinical governance and audits.
• Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic NHS environment.

Responsibilities

• MAU/AMRU ward cover and patient flow management.
• POD coverage 1x weekly.
• SDEC on-call coverage.
• Support Emergency Department integration.
• Lead training and MRCP PACES teaching.
• Supervise junior medical staff.
