Job summary

Opticore IT Ltd is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to deliver and operate GCP foundational services for a large enterprise client. The role is a 6-month contract (Inside IR35) with 1 day per week on site in London.

You will work with embedded Google architects to implement the architecture review and enable cloud deployment at scale, including Terraform-based infra, CI/CD pipelines, and security controls. Expect a split between project delivery and operational support.

Qualifications

• GCP Architect Professional certification with hands-on experience in Shared VPC, Compute, GKE and Cloud Run.
• IaC with Terraform across org hierarchy (folders, projects, IAM, networking).
• CI/CD pipelines ownership and automation using GitHub Actions.
• Implement architecture-review changes and produce runbooks for operations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver foundational GCP services in landing zones with embedded Google architects.
• Design and implement Terraform-driven infrastructure across the GCP hierarchy.
• Build and own CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and policy as code.
• Lead ongoing changes from the GCP architecture review.
• Manage Shared VPC and VPC Service Controls for secure projects.
• Deploy workloads across GKE, Compute, and Cloud Run.
• Coordinate with Network Team on landing zone standards and firewall integration.
• Produce operational runbooks for steady-state operations handover.
• Support SNP's next deployment phase with agility.
• Balance time ~50/50 between project delivery and operational support.

Opticore IT are currently searching for Senior Platform Engineer to deliver and operate GCP foundational services and applications for the technology platform at large enterprise financial services client. You'll work alongside embedded Google architects to implement a recent architecture review and enable the next phase of cloud deployment at scale.

This position will be on an initial 6 month contract (Inside IR35), with 1 day per week on site in London.

What you'll be doing:

• Deliver and implement foundational services in GCP landing zones alongside embedded Google architects.
• Design and build Terraform-driven infrastructure across the GCP org hierarchy, including folders, projects, IAM policies, and networking.
• Build and own the CI/CD pipelines that deliver infrastructure and policy as code.
• Own the ongoing implementation of changes identified in the recent GCP architecture review.
• Manage Shared VPC and VPC Service Controls to connect and secure GCP projects.
• Build and deploy workloads across GKE, general compute, and Cloud Run.
• Collaborate with the Network Team on landing zone standards and Palo Alto firewall integration.
• Produce operational runbooks to transition delivered services into steady-state operations.
• Support SNP's next phase of application and service deployment at pace.
• Split time roughly 50/50 between project delivery and operational support.

What you'llbring:

• GCP Architecture & Broad Engineering - GCP Architect Professional certified. With hands on experience across Shared VPC, Compute, GKE, and Cloud Run.
• Terraform & Infrastructure as Code - all infrastructure delivered via IaC, covering org hierarchy, folders, projects, IAM policies, and networking.
• CI/CD Pipeline Engineering - All delivery runs through GitHub Actions. Must be able to build and own the pipelines.
• Landing Zone Delivery & Runbook Production - Hands on implementing architecture-review changes, deploying foundational services to the documented reference architecture, and producing runbooks to hand services over to operations
