Job summary

Engine by Starling is seeking an experienced Senior / Staff GCP Security Engineer to own security foundations of our Google Cloud Platform environment and collaborate with Information Security, Infrastructure and Engineering teams. You will implement secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and automate security controls across multiple environments.

You will drive incident response, threat modelling, and architectural reviews while ensuring ongoing compliance with PCI DSS and 3DS.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) security architecture
• Experience creating a GCP landing zone with org policies and VPC Service Controls
• Strong knowledge of GCP IAM and its limitations
• Experience with GCP-native security tooling and IaC (Terraform)
• Security engineering for Kubernetes (GKE) and cloud-native security
• Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform) and config management
• Experience with security tooling for risk management and compliance (PCI DSS, 3DS)
• Scripting and automation in Python/Go for security tooling

Responsibilities

• Define our Google Cloud security architecture with cloud identity and runtime security
• Design, document, build, and maintain secure, scalable GCP infrastructure via IaC
• Ensure secure access, authentication and authorization across systems
• Automate controls in GCP to demonstrate continuous PCI DSS/3DS compliance
• Lead security deployments across growing environments
• Perform risk assessments, threat modelling, and architecture reviews
• Lead incident response and remediation of security breaches
• Promote DevSecOps across technology teams and security awareness
