Job summary

Awe Interactive Limited is seeking a Senior Game or Systems Designer to own core gameplay systems, balancing and progression across an ambitious UE5 title. You will work with level, quest, and engineering teams to design, tune, and implement foundations for ongoing player experience.

You will prototype in-engine, write clear specs, and mentor junior designers while ensuring features align with the game's pillars. Remote collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Game Designer or Systems Designer with at least one shipped PC or console game.
• Strong analytical and mathematical ability.
• Hands-on experience with the Unreal Engine 5 editor and Blueprints.
• Comfort with data tables and config-driven design.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and own gameplay systems end to end.
• Design key progression systems and player attributes, economy sinks and taps, difficulty scaling and reward pacing.
• Prototype in-engine in Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints and data tables, and in spreadsheets.
• Write clear, implementable design documentation and feature specs.
• Collaborate with the Game Director to realize the game vision through systems and features.
• Coordinate with writers, quest and level designers to ensure seamless integration of features.
• Collaborate with engineering on implementation, trade-offs and technical risk.
• Diagnose balance problems from telemetry and playtest data.
• Champion best practice across systems design, balance and prototyping, and build tools for the team.
• Provide constructive feedback and mentor less experienced designers.
• Update, iterate and extend existing systems as the game evolves.
