Job summary

Aztec Group is seeking a fund accounting professional to manage day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of fund structures under the supervision of a Financial Reporting Manager.

You will keep books for funds, prepare statements, reconcile and respond to investor queries while maintaining a robust control environment. The role offers hybrid working, mentorship opportunities and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Part qualified with ACCA/ACA; pursuing professional qualification.
• Knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS and statutory financial statements.
• Experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts.
• Proficient in Excel and new systems; strong communication.
• Mentoring junior staff is advantageous; fund administration desired.

Responsibilities

• Bookkeep a complex range of funds, management companies and fund structures.
• Prepare, reconcile and proof investor reports and statutory financial statements; handle investor queries.
• Address routine audit queries; liaise with clients and intermediaries.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and maintain robust controls.
• Maintain eFront and Excel working papers for accounting.
• Ensure timely payment of invoices.
• Mentor junior staff under supervision.

About the role:

Reports to the Financial Reporting Manager

The purpose of this position is to carry out routine day-to-day accounting of fund structures under the direction of a Financial Reporting Manager.

Key responsibilities:

• Bookkeep a complex range of funds, management companies and associated fund structures
• Complete all aspects of accounting matters for a portfolio of fund structures, including the preparation, reconciliation and proofing of investor reports, statutory financial statements, and ad hoc investor queries
• Deal with the completion of routine audit queries and liaise with clients and intermediaries
• Prepare periodic bank reconciliations and provide supporting documentation evidencing transactions are completed within a robust control environment
• Maintain accurate records on eFront and Microsoft Excel working paper schedules for all aspects of accounting
• Ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices and other payments
• Act as a mentor to junior staff under the supervision of senior staff

Skills, knowledge, expertise:

• The candidate will be expected to be at least part qualified with a relevant professional qualification (preferably having commenced ACCA Professional level or ACA Advanced level)
• Comprehensive knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
• Experience of the preparation of statutory financial statements is essential
• Experience of reviewing statutory accounts
• Proficient in the use of Excel, new systems and software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
• Previous experience of training, coaching/mentoring of junior staffis advantageous
• Prior industry experience in Fund Administration is highly desirable
