Job summary

Morgan Hunt are partnering with a Government organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Full Stack Java Developer on an initial 6-month contract, with extension potential. The role is remote (UK based) within an Agile, cross-functional delivery team, building cloud-native applications using Java 21, Spring Boot, React and OpenShift.

You'll design, develop and support modern web applications, RESTful APIs and event-driven services while collaborating with Developers, Architects, Product Owners

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Java 17/21 and Spring Boot development.
• Strong REST API and microservices design capabilities.
• Proficient with React and Next.js front-end development.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality Java applications using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot.
• Design and build scalable REST APIs and microservices.
• Develop modern front-end apps using React and Next.js.
• Deliver cloud-native applications within an OpenShift environment.
• Design and implement secure applications using Spring Security and OAuth 2.0.
• Develop event-driven solutions using RabbitMQ.
• Work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases.
• Create reusable UI components and contribute to shared design systems.
• Develop comprehensive automated test suites using Playwright.
• Follow Test-Driven Development (TDD), Pair Programming and modern engineering best practices.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab.
• Monitor application performance using Grafana, Kibana and other observability tools.
• Troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with multidisciplinary delivery teams.
• Coach and mentor other developers where appropriate.
