Job summary

Shell in the United Kingdom is seeking a Products Freight Analyst to join the Global Products Freight team. You will deliver tradeable market insights, build analytical tools, and partner with traders, finance, and other stakeholders to support profitable, compliant freight operations.

The role emphasizes developing short- and long-term analyses of supply/demand, building models in Python and Excel, creating MI dashboards, and presenting insights at routine commercial meetings.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical capability in freight, shipping, commodities, or maritime analytics.
• Advanced Excel (including VBA) required; Python or similar coding proficiency strongly preferred.
• Ability to automate datasets, build structured models, and translate data into meaningful insights.
• Solid understanding of maritime market fundamentals (vessel classes, flows, congestion, asset valuation).
• Experience with external freight analytics tools (e.g., Signal Ocean, Vortexa) beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own short-term and long-term analysis of Products Freight supply/demand, including vessel trends, regional flows, and seasonal patterns.
• Convert data from multiple sources into actionable trade insights.
• Build and enhance analytical models using Python and/or advanced Excel to support various analyses.
• Produce and present weekly freight market analysis and benchmarks for routine meetings.
• Lead MI dashboards development and automation; integrate third-party data for new modelling.
