The Products Freight Analyst plays a critical role within the Global Products Freight team, supporting commercial decision-making and contributing to profitable and compliant freight operations. This position is designed for an experienced analyst who can independently deliver high-quality tradeable market insights, develop analytical tools, and partner closely with traders, business development, finance, and wider Trading & Supply stakeholders. This role offers excellent visibility, commercial impact, and the opportunity to shape how the Products Freight desk uses data and analytics to drive performance.
We are keen to hear from candidates with relevant experience in shipping, freight, energy analytics or trading support and have demonstrated the ability to lead analytical work rather than only supporting it. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of independently designing, enhancing, and implementing analytical methodologies, coupled with a strong sense of accountability, ownership, and commercial acumen. They should also possess a growth mindset and a genuine desire to continuously deepen their technical expertise and understanding of market dynamics. We’d also like to see the following:
Strong analytical capability with proven experience in freight, shipping, commodities, or maritime analytics.
Advanced Excel (including VBA) required; Python or similar coding proficiency strongly preferred.
Ability to automate datasets, build structured models, and translate data into meaningful insights.
Solid understanding of maritime market fundamentals (vessel classes, flows, congestion, asset valuation, etc.).
Experience with external freight analytics tools (e.g., Signal Ocean, Vortexa) beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, prioritise multiple workstreams, and work under time pressure.
Strong interpersonal skills, with capability to communicate complex analysis to traders, leaders, and cross‑functional partners.
Curious, proactive, and able to challenge established thinking with data‑backed insights.
Enterprise mindset—comfortable working across global offices and multiple stakeholders.
Proven ability to identify performance drivers, optimise trading tools, and influence commercial outcomes.
