Job summary

City of Cardiff Council is recruiting a Fostering Service Manager for Foster Wales Cardiff. The role oversees assessment, approval and support of carers, leading safeguarding decisions and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

You will supervise principal social workers and coordinate with regional teams to drive recruitment and retention. The service is based at County Hall Cardiff with hybrid working options.

Qualifications

• Hold a social work qualification and be registered with Social Care Wales (Wales) or Social Work England (England).
• Demonstrated ability to lead a fostering service with robust decision making.

Responsibilities

• Oversee assessment, approval and support of mainstream, connected and SGO carers and supported lodgings providers.
• Make safe, robust safeguarding decisions and manage referrals, assessments and workload allocation according to statutory requirements.
• Lead service performance management and quality assurance, and report to the children’s management team.
