Job summary

RTL Group Ltd in Leeds seeks an experienced General Foreman to lead a highways scheme. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, supervise gangs, subcontractors and operatives, and coordinate labour, plant and materials to meet programme requirements.

You will ensure works adhere to drawings, specs and RAMS, while upholding safety, quality and environmental standards. Immediate start available for the right candidate, with 12 months of contract work on a long-term highways project and ongoing

Qualifications

• Proven experience as General Foreman on highways or civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of highways construction and site operations.
• Experience managing site gangs, subcontractors and plant.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures and site documentation.
• Relevant CSCS card.
• SSSTS or SMSTS certification, as required by the project.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple site activities.
• Available to start at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing day-to-day site operations across highways and civil engineering works.
• Supervising gangs, subcontractors and site operatives to ensure works are completed efficiently.
• Coordinating labour, plant, materials and resources to meet programme requirements.
• Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
• Conducting toolbox talks, site briefings and regular safety inspections.
• Monitoring progress on site and reporting updates, delays and issues to the Site Manager or Project Manager.
• Ensuring Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are followed.
• Liaising with Site Engineers, Site Managers and other project stakeholders.
• Maintaining accurate site records and ensuring work is completed to the required standard.
