Job summary

Waterman Group is seeking an experienced Fluvial Hydraulic Modeller to join our team and deliver a varied portfolio of hydraulic modelling and flood risk management projects across the UK.

You will lead technical delivery, develop and review 1D/2D models, and work with clients and multidisciplinary teams. You will also support junior colleagues, contribute to business development and ensure outputs meet high technical standards.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering hydraulic modelling and flood risk projects for UK-based clients.
• Strong practical experience in 1D–2D hydraulic modelling and relevant software packages.
• Experience leading technical work, reviewing outputs and mentoring other modellers.
• Excellent communication, report writing and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of hydraulic modelling and flood risk management projects.
• Build, develop and troubleshoot 1D and 2D hydraulic models using software such as TUFLOW, Flood Modeller Pro, InfoWorks ICM or HEC-RAS.
• Use GIS for model development, hydraulic schematisation and results analysis.
• Assess, validate and calibrate models to ensure reliable and robust outputs.
• Apply FEH hydrological analysis and UK flood risk guidance.
• Lead and mentor hydraulic modellers, delegating work and undertaking technical reviews and QA.
• Prepare and review technical reports, project proposals and fee estimates.
• Manage project delivery, budgets and resources, while maintaining relationships with clients and authorities.
