Job summary

The Environment Agency is seeking a Senior Advisor in Fluvial Flood Risk Modelling to join the Evidence Services team within Digital Data and Evidence. You will support and provide assurance on complex flood risk models and explain uncertainty to non-experts.

Based in England, you will work with multiple delivery teams, share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and contribute to high-quality flood risk guidance that informs risk assessment and decision making across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge and technical leadership in flood modelling and hydrology.
• Experience building hydraulic flood models in a fluvial setting with GIS packages.
• Experience in data processing and management and Geographical Information System (GIS) software packages.
• Mentoring and coaching skills, and a commitment to continuous development.
• Ability to work alone or as part of a team to make decisions and solve problems.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly of complex problems to non-expert audiences.
• A curious, open and inclusive mindset with a commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity.
• Influencing and persuading skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and provide assurance to complex flood risk modelling.
• Explain complexity and uncertainty in flood risk to non-experts.
• Collaborate with FCRM Directorate and Centres of Excellence.
• Support 6 Fluvial Delivery Teams technically and contribute to ways of working.
