Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking a Senior Advisor in fluvial flood risk modelling to support and assure complex flood risk modelling within Evidence Services. You will help explain uncertainty, reuse models, and coach teams across the Flood Risk Management directorate.

You will collaborate with Hydrology and GIS specialists, mentor colleagues, and contribute to training and ways of working to deliver high‑quality flood risk assessments for England.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge and technical leadership in flood modelling and hydrology.
• Expert knowledge and / or considerable experience in building hydraulic flood models in a fluvial setting.
• Experience in data processing and management, and GIS software packages.

Responsibilities

• Support 6 Fluvial Delivery Teams technically and provide input to ways of working, skills and training.
• Coach others to develop flood modelling capabilities and share best practices.
• Communicate complex flood risk concepts to non-expert audiences and stakeholders.
