Job summary

Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) is seeking a Flavour Scientist to provide technical direction within the Food Sciences laboratory and supervise junior staff. You will perform routine and investigative flavour analyses using GC-MS/MS, GC-O, GC-MS and LC-MS while developing methods and ensuring quality within timescales.

You will mentor colleagues, interact with clients and manage projects, contributing to strategies and delivering high-quality data to Mondelez and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
• Excellent understanding of GC MS/MS, GC-O, GC-MS and LC-MS.
• Scientific ability to independently conduct chemical analysis in relevant area.
• Good knowledge of GMP/UKAS and laboratory quality systems.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Meticulous, organized with a strong team ethos.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction within own area of expertise across departments.
• Perform range of analyses independently and mentor junior staff.
• Develop and validate methods and perform data interpretation.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Generate certificates of analysis and external interpretive reports.
• Lead client meetings and present data to stakeholders.
• Plan workload and manage a portfolio of projects.
