Job summary

Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) in Reading is seeking a Scientist II to manage technical projects within the Food Sciences laboratory. You will supervise a team, review data, and generate high-quality certificates of analysis while ensuring timely delivery of results to clients in food, pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

A degree or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline is required, with proven mentoring ability, GMP/UKAS experience, and strong client communication.

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a laboratory.
• Scientific understanding and ability to independently manage and deliver several projects.
• Experience in mentoring or supervising people and ability to review data and sign off results.
• Able to work in a regulated environment (GMP/UKAS).
• Strong verbal and written communication with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality customer service and ensure integrity of analytical data.
• Manage internal/external projects with timelines and deliverables.
• Act as primary client contact, coordinate meetings, and prepare project reports.
• Perform data review and generate certificates of analysis.
• Mentor junior staff and cross-train across laboratories.
• Ensure safety, quality actions and SOP compliance.
