Job summary

Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) is seeking a Flavour Senior Scientist to provide technical direction in the Food Sciences laboratory. You will supervise complex flavour projects, conduct routine and investigative analyses using GC-O, GC-MS and LC-MS, and mentor junior staff. Based at Reading, with potential site visits to other RSSL locations.

The role emphasizes data integrity, rapid results, and effective client communication, within GMP/UKAS frameworks.

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Excellent understanding of GC-O, GC-MS and LC-MS.
• Strong English communication, both written and spoken.
• Knowledge of GMP and UKAS accreditation.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and manage projects.
• Experience with CRO environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality customer service with organized workload and timely results.
• Provide technical direction across departments.
• Perform analyses using GC-O, GC-MS and LC-MS.
• Develop methods and validate protocols.
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment.
• Generate certificates of analysis and external reports.
• Train and supervise junior staff.
• Manage projects within technical area.
• Ensure COSHH, risk assessments and SOPs are followed.
