Brandon James Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Surveyor for its London team. The role involves managing passive fire protection and building safety projects, working with Chartered Fire Engineers, and delivering technical recommendations across residential, hospital, educational and commercial buildings.

You will lead inspections, assess installations, manage projects from instruction to completion, and mentor junior surveyors while supporting fee proposals and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Construction, Building Surveying, Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 5 years’ relevant construction industry experience, including passive fire protection inspection or verification.
• Strong technical knowledge of fire compartmentation and passive fire protection systems.
• Experience managing projects, preparing technical reports and overseeing junior staff.
• Professional registration with a relevant institution (IFE or RICS).
• Full UK driving licence and CSCS card.
• Willingness to travel UK-wide, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking passive fire protection inspections, including fire compartmentation, fire stopping, fire doors and related installations.
• Assessing installations against fire test evidence, manufacturers’ specifications, certification and regulations.
• Managing projects from instruction through inspection, reporting and completion.

• Managing budgets, deadlines, QA and client expectations.
• Building and maintaining relationships with clients, contractors and teams.
• Mentoring junior Fire Surveyors and supporting their development.

An established, employee-owned Fire Engineering Consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Fire Surveyor to join its specialist team in London.

With over 25 years of experience delivering fire engineering, passive fire protection and fire safety consultancy services, the business has developed a strong reputation for providing independent technical advice across complex buildings and projects throughout the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire Surveyor looking to take greater ownership of projects, develop client relationships and progress towards a Principal or leadership position within a highly respected consultancy.

The Role

As a Senior Fire Surveyor, you will manage a varied portfolio of passive fire protection and building safety projects, working alongside experienced Chartered Fire Engineers and specialist surveyors.

Projects span residential developments, hospitals, educational facilities and commercial buildings, with responsibility for assessing fire protection installations, identifying compliance issues and providing technically sound recommendations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Undertaking passive fire protection inspections, including fire compartmentation, fire stopping, fire doors and associated installations.

• Assessing installations against fire test evidence, manufacturers’ specifications, certification and relevant regulations.

• Managing projects from initial instruction through to inspection, technical reporting and completion.

• Managing project budgets, deadlines, quality assurance and client expectations.

The Ideal Candidate

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Construction, Building Surveying, Engineering or a related discipline.

• At least 5 years’ relevant construction industry experience, including passive fire protection inspection or verification.

• Strong technical knowledge of fire compartmentation and passive fire protection systems.

• Experience managing projects, preparing technical reports and overseeing junior staff.

• Professional registration with a relevant institution, such as the IFE or RICS.

• Confident communicating with clients and providing clear technical recommendations.

• Full UK driving licence and valid CSCS card.

• Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
