Job summary

JobHeron in Hertfordshire is seeking a Senior Fire Safety Engineer / Consultant to lead fire safety design, risk management, and strategy development across varied projects. You will work with clients from local developers to larger schemes, ensuring compliant, innovative solutions.

The role requires at least 5 years in fire safety engineering, a degree in Fire Engineering, and Chartered status or progress toward it.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Fire Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years experience in fire safety engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (IFE or IFSM preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead and support fire safety design and risk management for diverse building types.
• Build strong relationships with new and existing clients.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections, and fire risk assessments.
• Create clear, comprehensive reports, presentations, and fire strategy documentation.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Fire Safety Engineer:

• Lead and support fire safety design and risk management for a wide range of building types
• Build strong relationships with new and existing clients
• Mentor and support junior engineers

What Youll Bring:

• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Fire Engineering or a related field
• At least 5 years experience in fire safety engineering
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (IFE or IFSM member preferred)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and fire engineering software (e.g. CFD modelling, thermal analysis)
• Strong working knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and international codes
• Excellent communication skills able to translate technical details for varied audiences
• A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and high standards
• A valid UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
• Willingness to travel in the UK and abroad when required
