Brandon James is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Surveyor to join a London-based, employee-owned fire engineering consultancy. You will lead passive fire protection projects, develop client relationships and progress toward principal leadership roles.

Responsibilities include inspections, reporting, budget and team management, with opportunities to advance across UK-wide projects and flexible working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction, Building Surveying, Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 5 years' experience in construction with passive fire protection inspection or verification.
• Registration with a professional body (IFE or RICS) preferred.
• Valid UK driving licence and CSCS card.

Responsibilities

• Undertake passive fire protection inspections (fire compartmentation, fire stopping, fire doors).
• Assess installations against fire test evidence and regulations.
• Manage projects from instruction to inspection, reporting and completion.
• Produce and review detailed survey reports and documentation.
• Manage budgets, deadlines, QA and client expectations.
• Build and maintain client, contractor and project-team relationships.
• Mentor junior Fire Surveyors and support their development.
• Assist with fee proposals and identify additional consultancy opportunities.

An established, employee-owned Fire Engineering Consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Fire Surveyor to join its specialist team in London.

With over 25 years of experience delivering fire engineering, passive fire protection and fire safety consultancy services, the business has developed a strong reputation for providing independent technical advice across complex buildings and projects throughout the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire Surveyor looking to take greater ownership of projects, develop client relationships and progress towards a Principal or leadership position within a highly respected consultancy.

The Role

As a Senior Fire Surveyor, you will manage a varied portfolio of passive fire protection and building safety projects, working alongside experienced Chartered Fire Engineers and specialist surveyors.

Projects span residential developments, hospitals, educational facilities and commercial buildings, with responsibility for assessing fire protection installations, identifying compliance issues and providing technically sound recommendations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Undertaking passive fire protection inspections, including fire compartmentation, fire stopping, fire doors and associated installations.
• Assessing installations against fire test evidence, manufacturers' specifications, certification and relevant regulations.
• Managing projects from initial instruction through to inspection, technical reporting and completion.
• Producing and reviewing detailed survey reports and technical documentation.
• Managing project budgets, deadlines, quality assurance and client expectations.
• Building and maintaining relationships with clients, contractors and project teams.
• Mentoring junior Fire Surveyors and supporting their technical development.
• Assisting with fee proposals and identifying opportunities for additional consultancy services.

The Ideal Candidate

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Construction, Building Surveying, Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years' relevant construction industry experience, including passive fire protection inspection or verification.
• Strong technical knowledge of fire compartmentation and passive fire protection systems.
• Experience managing projects, preparing technical reports and overseeing junior staff.
• Professional registration with a relevant institution, such as the IFE or RICS.
• Confident communicating with clients and providing clear technical recommendations.
• Full UK driving licence and valid CSCS card.
• Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
