Job summary

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Fire Engineering Expert Witness to support high-profile fire safety litigation across the UK and Ireland. You will lead investigations from on-site data collection to preparing comprehensive expert witness reports and delivering testimony in court.

The role involves collaboration with solicitors, developers and public bodies, adhering to UK and Irish fire safety standards. You will manage disclosure, research and report writing, and may train junior staff while

Qualifications

• Degree in Fire Engineering or related area.
• Background in Fire Safety Engineering, including cladding and site experience.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
• Experience of fire safety design in residential and commercial buildings.
• Extensive experience with expert witness in UK and/or Irish jurisdictions.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to legal audiences.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site-based investigations to record evidence and analyse fire incidents.
• Review technical documentation including manuals and maintenance records.
• Consult relevant standards, regulations and guidance.
• Provide timely preliminary verbal or written advice to lay audiences and Judges.
• Prepare reports for court proceedings, whether brief or detailed.
• Attend client meetings to discuss investigations and findings.
• Meetings with experts involved in litigation processes.
• Provide expert witness evidence in Court and participate in cross-examination.
