Job description

Pension Insurance Corporation ("PIC") provides secure retirement incomes through comprehensive risk management, asset and liability management, and exceptional customer service. PIC is recruiting for a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join its Reporting & Financial Management department on a 6-month FTC basis. You will collaborate across Finance and the wider business to deliver statutory reporting for PIC Group, including year-end accounts for approximately 30 entities and half-year reports for PIC plc and PICG Group. You will support process improvements, solve problems, and mitigate risks to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables.

Accountabilities:
  • Produce external IFRS reports, including the Annual Report and Accounts for the Group and UK subsidiaries, and the half-year Investor Report.
  • Improve statutory and other reporting processes, controls, and output quality.
  • Review external reporting content, benchmark against peers, and recommend enhancements.
  • Support management information and regulatory reporting tasks.
  • Manage relationships with external accounting firms for smaller subsidiaries.
  • Prepare papers for the Audit Committee and Board related to statutory reporting.
  • Develop technical papers for new accounting policies or treatments.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external auditors.
  • Lead finance aspects of company-wide projects or initiatives.
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure effective controls and efficiency.
Requirements:
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of the insurance industry and reporting metrics like IFRS and Solvency II.
  • Experience in reporting roles.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and life and pensions accounting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Experience:
  • Financial services sector experience.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion, Oracle FCCS, and SmartView Excel add-in.
  • Experience with Workiva (preferred).
  • Understanding of IFRS 17 and its application to life insurance.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting and Solvency II.
Skills:
