Are you an experienced finance professional ready to play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and supporting key services in local government?

We're looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join the London Borough of Sutton's Shared Finance Service on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide high-impact financial business partnering support to the Place Directorate, acting as a critical friend and trusted advisor during a time of strategic importance.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver expert financial advice across revenue and capital budgets.

Support core financial processes: budget setting, monitoring, and year-end.

Analyse financial performance and provide insight to support decision-making.

Help manage financial risk and promote financial sustainability.

Work collaboratively with service leads, strategic partners, and other public bodies (e.g. NHS, TfL).

Assist with the Better Care Fund and other shared financial arrangements, if relevant.

About You:

Part-qualified CCAB accountant or equivalent experience operating at this level.

Proven experience in large organisations, ideally within local government.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Strong analytical and IT skills, including use of finance and reporting systems.

Ability to influence decision-making, challenge constructively, and drive improvements.

Full CCAB qualification or actively studying.

Experience supporting transformation/change programmes.

Knowledge of pooled budgets or cost-sharing arrangements.
