The key responsibilities of the role will be:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day running of the school's accounting and financial management information systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Assist, under the direction of the School Business Manager, in the annual reporting and budget cycle, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements, preparing annual estimates, monitoring accounts against budgets, and providing regular reports on income and expenditure.
- Monitor and evaluate contracts and service level agreements.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, financial forecasts, and monthly reports.
- Process and review invoices, orders, receipts, and payments promptly.
- Assist with end-of-year financial procedures and annual audits.
- Maintain accurate records for all financial transactions, including income and expenditure.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial legislation and reporting standards.
- Order goods and services, including obtaining quotes and monitoring Service Level Agreements/Contracts to ensure best value and compliance with school procurement processes.
- Handle monthly submission of payroll claims and absence returns to the Local Authority, perform payroll reconciliation, and resolve payroll queries.
- Coordinate services to the school with external providers, such as the Peripatetic-music service and Bus Services, resolving queries swiftly.
- Prepare for school audits as required.
- Support the Office Manager in the smooth running of the School Office, undertaking duties as necessary, and deputise if required.
- Provide clerking and advisory services to the Governing Body, ensuring compliance within statutory frameworks and regulations.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in a similar role, preferably in education or finance, with strong IT, analytical skills, and a high standard of English and Maths.
- The ability to convert data into management information understandable to diverse audiences.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills to engage colleagues at all levels, providing exceptional customer service.
- Motivation to streamline processes and implement continuous improvements while ensuring compliance with Local Authority procedures and regulations.
- Flexibility, teamwork, and a positive attitude towards supporting colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
