Support a startup creating raw, natural & ethical skincare in Ghana

Skin Gourmet makes raw, handmade, edible skincare from wild Ghanaian ingredients—empowering African producers to earn 300% more by cutting out middlemen and keeping the value where it belongs.

The global skincare industry, valued at over $24.5 billion, relies on raw materials sourced from Africa—particularly ingredients like shea butter, baobab, and black soap. However, African producers, especially rural women, remain trapped in extreme poverty, earning less than $1.10 a day. Despite being the backbone of the industry, they are often excluded from high-value markets due to the high costs of certifications such as Fair Trade and Organic, which range from $2,000 to $70,000 annually. For women earning less than $400 per year, these certifications are inaccessible.

Skin Gourmet addresses these challenges by creating a transparent, locally-rooted skincare model that centers African producers as the primary beneficiaries of their resources. We source wild, raw ingredients directly from rural communities in Ghana and transform them into handmade, edible skincare products—processed locally to retain full market value. By eliminating middlemen, we ensure producers are paid directly and fairly, increasing their earnings by up to 300%. Instead of exporting raw materials at undervalued prices, we keep processing in-country, turning Ghanaian farmers into suppliers of high-value finished goods.

Our refill system aims to save up to 15,000 units of packaging waste annually by 2026. We partner to distribute 5,000 clean cookstoves over five years—reducing indoor air pollution and cutting 7,500 tons of CO₂ emissions. We rely on wild-harvested ingredients, which are naturally regenerative and require no synthetic inputs or industrial farming.

Everything we do is designed to keep wealth, ownership, and environmental responsibility within African communities—demonstrating that sustainable beauty can be clean, ethical, and truly transformative from the ground up.

Role (Volunteer): Fractional Chief Financial Officer.

Role Description: The Fractional CFO will serve as a strategic financial partner to Skin Gourmet’s founder and leadership team. This individual will play a critical role in strengthening our financial health, preparing us for scale, and supporting our mission to create prosperity through radically pure, edible skincare sourced from rural Ghana.

Responsibilities will include:

1. Financial Strategy & Forecasting: Develop financial models, growth forecasts, and strategic plans to support expansion, including pricing strategy, unit economics, and resource allocation.
2. Cash Flow & Budget Management: Monitor and advise on cash flow, cost controls, budgeting, and capital allocation to ensure sustainability and efficiency.
3. Investor Readiness: Prepare financial reports, pitch materials, and due diligence documentation for grants, investors, and strategic partners.
4. Grant & Fund Reporting: Support management of budgets and reporting for grants and donor-funded projects, ensuring compliance and clarity.
5. Advisory to CEO: Work directly with the founder/CEO to provide data-driven financial insights that inform major strategic decisions.
6. Capacity Building: Help train or guide our internal team (currently skilled in bookkeeping) to better understand financial processes, tools, and decision-making frameworks.
7. Process Optimization: Recommend and help implement systems or tools that improve financial tracking, transparency, and operational efficiency.

This role is vital for transitioning from early-stage survival to sustainable, investable growth, with a flexible time commitment based on strategic phases (estimated 4–6 hours/week).

Time Commitment: Volunteer 4-6 hours per week for 6+ months remotely.
