Are you a commercially focused finance leader looking to make a tangible impact in a fast-paced, high-investment environment? At Next PLC, we’re looking for a dynamic Finance Manager – Logistics to help drive performance across our £800m+ logistics operation.
As a key member of the Logistics Finance team, you’ll partner with senior leaders across our warehousing and distribution network to challenge, support and influence decisions that deliver real cost efficiencies and strategic value—particularly within our rapidly expandingTotal Platform proposition.
What you’ll be doing:- Partnering with senior logistics leadership to deliver financial insight, challenge performance, and drive accountability across all warehouse and distribution functions.
- Leading the financial modelling and reporting for strategic growth areas, including Total Platform and 3PL operations—evaluating new client opportunities and ensuring accurate customer costings.
- Presenting monthly finance updates to directors, analysing variances to forecast and budget, and identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Owning and delivering the bi-annual budget and periodic forecasting process for logistics, ensuring key assumptions and business drivers are clearly communicated and aligned.
- Managing the logistics capex forecasting and investment appraisal process (with annual spend up to £100m), including evaluation of new sites, expansions, and fleet requirements.
- Leading a high-performing team of 9 finance professionals (including 2 direct reports), fostering a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision making.
- Driving process improvements to enhance visibility and efficiency across reporting, forecasting and spend control.
We’re looking for someone who:- Has proven experience leading commercial finance teams, ideally in a large-scale logistics, retail or FMCG environment.
- Can confidently influence and challenge at a senior leadership level, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and takes a proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Possesses strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy and deadlines.
- Is a fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
