We are seeking a Deputy Director of People, Organisational Development and Inclusion to join our Trust. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, expertise, and influence in HR, culture, and staff experience, contributing to a continuous improvement and learning environment.

A strong communicator and influencer, you'll collaborate with senior leaders to develop and implement our People Strategy. You will actively seek to deliver a high-quality People Service, challenging the status quo constructively.

Main duties of the job

You will focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion, driving continuous improvement in people practices. You will lead the people team, fostering a culture of excellence and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure effective delivery of services within our People Directorate, proactively addressing workforce challenges in line with organizational aims.

You must have a proven track record of senior leadership, experience in large transformational change programs, and a professional approach aligned with our Trust's vision and values.

Working for our organisation

Our Trust provides mental health, learning disability, and autism services across Derby and Derbyshire, including services for children and young people, as well as specialist services like substance misuse, gambling harms, and eating disorders. We pride ourselves on our values-led approach to healthcare.

This role is within our People and Inclusion team, which offers strategic HR support across divisions. The team includes Divisional People Leads, Strategic Recruitment and Reward, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and other specialists.

Transactional HR services are delivered through a shared service with Derbyshire Community Health Services (DCHS).

  • Degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Master’s Degree in HR or relevant area
  • Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

  • Senior level experience in complex organizations
  • Proven leadership and advising experience at board level
  • Experience in consultation, negotiation, and influencing stakeholders
  • Leadership in large transformational change programs
  • Experience with partnership working, including unions and professional bodies
  • Knowledge of workforce planning and UK employment law
