The Role

This is an important role assisting the Exposure Management Manager to support Aspen’s exposure management capabilities within man-made catastrophe. The role involves analyzing risk information and developing insights for insurance and reinsurance for internal and external reporting. Exposure management here refers to managing risk accumulations from various man-made perils, including (but not limited to) casualty, cyber, terror, and others. The Exposure Management Reporting Manager is responsible for the completion and submission of all regulatory and agency reporting for the team. This includes managing reporting schedules, ensuring data inputs are available, and overseeing management review and approval processes. The manager acts as a subject matter expert on all reporting, providing guidance and interpretation as needed. The role also involves contributing to risk methodologies and ensuring regulatory compliance. Additionally, the manager owns and maintains the Principles Based Oversight for the Syndicate entity and updates Exposure Management policies, procedures, and frameworks.

Key Accountabilities

Strategy and Planning

• Contribute to the development of the functional strategy.
• Prioritize work activities to meet personal and team objectives.
• Develop strategies for responsible lines of business aligned with overall goals.

Policy, Process and Procedures

• Ensure compliance with external and internal frameworks, policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Promote best practices in Exposure Management.
• Work towards becoming a subject matter expert in assigned lines of business and regulatory oversight.

Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus

• Collaborate with Underwriting teams on exposure management issues.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders.
• Identify value-added reports and processes for Underwriting and Management.
• Communicate effectively on Exposure Management matters.
• Assist other departments in understanding exposures and regulatory requirements.

Technical Performance

• Improve existing reporting processes independently.
• Adapt processes to new requests and regulations.
• Support the EM Manager in resolving limitations in risk views and models.
• Engage in developing the Exposure Management datamart (SQL).
• Ensure proper data flow and usage.
• Analyze SQL databases to inform stakeholders.
• Provide ad-hoc data analysis as required.
• Ensure regulatory compliance within personal remit.
• Manage the netting process for quarterly and regulatory reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of key regulatory reports such as Lloyd’s RDS and BMA’s BSCR.
• Experience with regulatory submissions and developing processes for new requests.
• Experience managing multiple workstreams.
• Exposure management, catastrophe modeling, or actuarial experience is essential.
• Understanding of Insurance and Reinsurance sectors.
• Knowledge of key man-made lines of business.
• Proficient MS Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUPs).
• Data manipulation skills (SQL and Python preferred).
