Purpose

The primary purpose of the role is to work with the Modelling Team to model Catastrophe risk, utilizing the current in-house tools. The candidate will report on global exposures across all lines of business to the Underwriters and facilitate technical pricing, loss estimation, and interpretation. Main tasks include detailed modelling of technical Property Catastrophe Treaty, Retro, and ILW accounts; assisting and training junior modellers; contributing to roll-up processes and reporting. The successful applicant must have strong analytical skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to fit into a dynamic, fun, yet hard-working culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with underwriters to analyze account metrics probabilistically and add value through insights into model outputs and reliability.
  • Proficiently use in-house tools within relevant software (Excel, Touchstone (Re), TigerEye, HX).
  • Support and shape analytical capabilities, including hardware, software, and model development.
  • Mentor and review work of junior team members.
  • Assist with monthly portfolio roll-up tasks and analysis.
  • Support Lloyd’s returns and other reporting activities.
  • Lead project-based initiatives to improve processes and data management.
  • Use SQL queries to retrieve and update modelling information.
  • Maintain complete and accurate information in internal systems and support new tool development.
  • Perform ad hoc duties and projects as required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • 1-3 years of experience in Exposure Management, especially within reinsurance.
  • Degree in a numerical, geographical, or business-related field and/or professional insurance qualifications (ACII, AIC, CPCU).
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills, experience handling large datasets.
  • High computer literacy, knowledge of Excel, modelling software (Touchstone (Re), RMS), SQL; experience with R, Power BI, or Python is advantageous.
  • Understanding of catastrophe insurance principles, loss modelling, and data aggregation.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and pay close attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented with initiative; adaptable to various tasks.
  • Knowledge of TigerEye or similar layer pricing software is preferred.
