Job description

We are recruiting for a Senior Export Contract Manager to work for a leading Defence organisation on a contract basis. The role is a hybrid position with 3 days on site in Stevenage or Bristol and 2 days remote.

Requirements:

  • Keen for a defence background, preferred but not vital
  • Senior line manager experience and experience in delivering commercial contracts
  • Experience as a commercial manager or contract manager
  • Security Clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship

The opportunity:

An exciting opportunity within the Programmes Export Operations Directorate for an experienced Export Contract Manager. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong commercial, financial, and project management skills to lead complex export contracts.

The role involves:

  1. Leading the commercial interface with international government and military customers for contract delivery
  2. Managing multiple cross-domain and geographically diverse contracts
  3. Ensuring contract schedules are met to maintain high customer satisfaction and strong relationships
  4. Proactively resolving contract issues through risk and opportunity management
  5. Leading customer acceptance events and managing contractual payments
  6. Communicating effectively with customers, government and industrial partners, and internally
  7. Negotiating contract amendments and supporting sales and business development
  8. Collaborating with national companies in France, Spain, and Italy to deliver export contracts

What we are looking for:

  • Leadership, influencing, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to define and communicate strategic intent in complex political environments
  • Experience leading contract delivery in both bid and execution phases, preferably internationally
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a confident leadership style
  • People management experience and stakeholder relationship management
  • Willingness to travel internationally and embrace different cultures
  • Experience preparing bid submissions, ideally with Bid Authority exposure
  • Experience working in large, complex, multinational organizations across various functions
