Job summary

Andersen EV, based in Stewartby, Bedfordshire, seeks an experienced Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to lead hardware development for EV charging products. You will own PCB design, schematic capture and component selection across the full lifecycle, collaborating with firmware, software, mechanical, production and quality teams.

In this hands-on role you will bring up prototypes, run validation plans, perform EMC and safety testing, and support pre-compliance and production QC.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong industry experience in electronic hardware design and development.
• Proven analogue and digital circuit design experience.
• Strong schematic capture and PCB design/review capability.
• Experience with Altium Designer at expert level.
• Experience of PCB bring-up, debugging and fault finding.
• Practical experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads and other laboratory equipment.
• Good understanding of EMC design principles and practical EMC troubleshooting.
• Experience of hardware verification and validation.
• Experience with relevant electrical safety, EMC and product compliance standards.
• Experience with microcontroller-based products including STMicroelectronics, Espressif or Atmel/Microchip devices.
• Experience of RF communications, antenna integration and RF/EMC troubleshooting.
• Ability to investigate complex hardware issues using a structured engineering approach.
• Good understanding of component selection and design for manufacture.
• Experience developing mains-powered electronic products.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic circuits for Andersen EV charging products.
• Create and maintain schematics, PCB designs and documentation.
• Support PCB layout and design reviews.
• Select and evaluate components considering performance, reliability, cost and availability.
• Carry out prototype PCB bring-up, debugging and fault finding.
• Develop and execute hardware test and validation plans.
• Perform analogue and digital circuit testing using laboratory equipment.
• Design for EMC and support pre-compliance and formal EMC testing.
• Support electrical safety, regulatory and product certification activities.
• Investigate hardware failures and carry out structured root-cause analysis.
• Support Engineering Changes and continuous product improvement.
• Work with firmware and software engineers during integration and debugging.
• Support manufacturing with PCB and electronics-related issues.
• Improve production test methods and diagnostic capability.
• Support component obsolescence and supply-chain issues.
• Ensure design, test and validation documentation is clear and maintained.
