Job summary
Voltempo is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop megawatt-scale EV charging firmware for live depot infrastructure, including the UK's first eHGV network. The role blends hands-on development with system-level design, in a scale-up environment, focusing on reliability, maintainability and secure updates.
You will work across C++ firmware, RTOS/bare-metal, and higher-level supervisory applications, collaborating with hardware and software teams while supporting deployed chargers
Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on C++ in resource-constrained embedded systems.
- Experience with serial/bus protocols (CAN, Modbus/RS485) and MQTT/WebSockets.
- RTOS or bare-metal firmware with higher-level integration (Windows/Linux).
- Firmware/hardware integration, troubleshooting and field support.
Responsibilities
- Elicit and define requirements for features and validation.
- Design and maintain modular embedded software in modern C++ per MISRA guidelines.
- Bring up firmware for high-performance microcontrollers (e.g. STM32).
- Architect and implement gateways between charger subsystems, vehicles and cloud services.
