Job summary

Kraken is seeking a senior regulatory lawyer for Europe to guide product, licensing structure, and regulatory strategy. You will partner with Product, Design and Engineering to chart clear, defensible paths to launch while ensuring compliance across MiFID II, MiCA, PSD2 and related regimes.

You will advise on payments, e-money, banking questions, and supervision interactions, with a focus on tokenised assets and instability in regulation.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with extensive post-qualification experience in financial services regulatory law.
• Proven ability to analyse novel products across overlapping regimes and provide clear classifications.
• Experience managing senior regulator relationships and external counsel across jurisdictions.
• Comfort operating autonomously in a fast-moving, remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Own cross-functional product counselling for EU launches from discovery to launch with decision-ready advice.
• Advise on regulatory perimeter and classification under MiFID II/MiFIR, MiCA, EMIR and banking rules.
• Advise on payments, e-money, and custody/service offerings within EU frameworks.
• Monitor EU legislation and provide proactive impact analysis for the business.
• Draft and negotiate client-facing terms and conditions with a business-focused stance.
• Lead outside counsel engagements: scope, cost, and sign-off before external engagement.
