Job summary

Kraken is seeking a Senior Regulatory Counsel to join the fully remote UK/EU Regulatory Legal team. You will own the BAU regulatory workload and provide regulatory advice on MiCA/UK Cryptoasset Regime, e-money and payments, while engaging with regulators to sustain licensing across EU/UK entities.

The role emphasizes translating complex regimes into practical guidance, supporting licensing applications, and delivering clear, business‑friendly risk recommendations with autonomy from day one.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ PQE in financial services regulatory law at a regulated institution or big law practice.
• Experience independently owning BAU regulatory workstreams.
• Direct regulator engagement experience (CBI, FCA or EU authority).
• Experience with MiCA or UK Cryptoasset Regime and with e-money/payments regulation.
• AML/CTF coverage and outsourcing/operational resilience knowledge.
• Strong analytical, drafting and plain-English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide regulatory support on cryptoasset, e-money and payment services requirements.
• Support licensing applications and in-flight EU/UK licensing workstreams.
• Advise on corporate transactions and regulatory notifications to regulators.
• Manage day-to-day regulator relationships for licensed entities.
• Translate complex frameworks into practical guidance for non-lawyers.
