Job summary

EDF Energy Limited in the United Kingdom seeks a Permanent Estimator to develop detailed piping and mechanical work package estimates, with a focus on direct labour, materials, equipment, and allowances.

You will prepare BOE documentation, map estimates to WBS/CBS, and collaborate with procurement and planning teams to ensure accurate, banker-ready costs and alignment with project delivery strategies.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, construction management, quantity surveying or a related discipline.
• Professional membership or certification desirable (e.g. AACE, RICS, ICES, or equivalent).
• Extensive estimating experience on large, complex infrastructure or energy projects.
• Experience supporting early stage estimate development for major infrastructure or energy projects, including support to funding gate approvals, commercial negotiations, and early design maturity phases.
• Deep knowledge of piping fabrication, mechanical installation, welding, NDT, and testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for piping and mechanical work packages, covering labour, materials, equipment and allowances.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive BOE documentation clearly defining scope assumptions and pricing.
• Ensure estimates map to WBS, CBS and align with the Control Account framework.
• Use historical data and benchmarking data to validate estimate inputs and assumptions.
• Liaise with procurement to analyse supplier quotations and subcontractor pricing.
• Collaborate with planning teams to reflect delivery strategies and site conditions.
