Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Estimator in a main contractor environment.
• Extensive experience pricing large-scale construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, subcontractor packages and supply chain procurement.
• Ability to analyse tender information, drawings and specifications to develop competitive tenders.
• Experience negotiating quotations with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ability to identify commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering solutions.
• Willingness to work with Commercial, Pre-Construction, Design and Operations teams.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a leading Tier 1 construction contractor as part of their rapidly growing North East operation. The North East region is growing significantly faster than originally anticipated, with a strong and increasing pipeline of major projects. Its a particularly exciting time to join the business, with the regional operation entering an important stage of its growth. The business delivers large-scale commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure projects, with schemes typically ranging from £10m to £50m+.

The Opportunity

This is more than simply a Senior Estimator position. The North East operation is still developing, creating a genuine opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join at an early stage of regional growth and play a key role in shaping its future. As a senior member of the regional team, you'll have the opportunity to become part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), working alongside regional leadership to influence strategy, project acquisition and the continued growth of the North East business. You'll take ownership of major tenders while also helping shape the estimating function, supply chain strategy and pre-construction approach as the regional operation continues to expand. We're looking for someone who:

• Has strong experience working as a Senior Estimator within a main contractor environment.
• Has extensive experience pricing and estimating large-scale construction projects.
• Has a strong understanding of construction methodologies, subcontractor packages and supply chain procurement.
• Can analyse tender information, drawings and specifications to develop accurate and competitive tenders.
• Is confident working with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain, assess and negotiate competitive quotations.
• Can identify commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering solutions throughout the tender process.
• Can work closely with Commercial, Pre-Construction, Design and Operations teams.
• Has the seniority and commercial awareness to contribute to wider regional business strategy.
• Can influence and support the development of the regional estimating function.
• Has the confidence to take ownership of major tenders and contribute to decisions around future project opportunities.

You’ll be working across a diverse portfolio of major projects throughout the North East, including:

• Commercial developments
• Industrial projects
• Residential schemes
• Infrastructure
• Major public and private sector developments

Project values typically range from £10m to £50m+, providing excellent exposure to complex and high-value construction projects. With the regional pipeline continuing to build, there is significant scope for the successful Senior Estimator to become involved in some of the North East's major upcoming developments.
