Job summary

Ignite Talent Group is assisting a respected UK construction contractor to recruit a Senior Estimator for the North East pre-construction team. You will lead end-to-end estimating across a varied portfolio, collaborating with design, commercial and operational colleagues.

The role requires strong civils/building package experience, proficiency with estimating software (COINS or Causeway Evolution advantageous), and a track record of accurate tender submissions and value engineering.

Qualifications

• Strong experience estimating construction projects from tender through submission.
• Experience pricing complete construction packages.
• Good understanding of civils/groundworks and building elements.
• Experience on medium to large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor procurement, tender analysis and commercial risk.

Job description

An established UK construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join its growing North East pre-construction team.

The business is experiencing significant regional growth, with a strong secured order book and an expanding pipeline of opportunities across residential, commercial, student accommodation, industrial, education, energy and infrastructure-related developments.

The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end estimating process across a varied portfolio of construction projects, working closely with the wider pre-construction, commercial and operational teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates from initial enquiry through to final tender submission.
• Managing the full estimating process across complete construction packages.
• Pricing enabling works, remediation, groundworks, drainage, utilities and wider civils packages alongside the subsequent building works.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Preparing subcontractor and supplier enquiries and analysing returned quotations.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering options.
• Supporting tender reviews, adjudications and final submissions.
• Working collaboratively with design, commercial and operational teams throughout pre-construction.
• Maintaining accurate estimating and tender information using relevant estimating systems.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator with a strong background working for a Tier 1 or established regional main contractor.

You should have:

• Strong experience estimating construction projects from initial tender through to final submission.
• Experience pricing complete construction packages rather than a single specialist trade.
• A good understanding of both civils/groundworks and building elements.
• Experience working across medium to large-scale construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor procurement, tender analysis and commercial risk.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and communication skills.
• Experience with estimating software; knowledge of COINS and/or Causeway Evolution would be advantageous.

Experience across sectors such as residential, student accommodation, commercial, industrial/logistics, education, energy or major regeneration projects would be beneficial.
