Job summary

CDM Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join a civil engineering contractor delivering projects across the North East. You will lead tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and manage subcontractor and supplier enquiries.

The role requires a strong background in civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure, with the ability to drive cost estimates, identify commercial risks and support tender strategies and pricing.

Qualifications

• Proven Senior Estimator experience in civil engineering/groundworks.
• Strong knowledge of roads, sewers, drainage and infrastructure.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders independently.
• Understanding of construction costs and buildability.
• Commercially astute with excellent analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of tenders for civils and infrastructure projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, scopes and contract documents.
• Produce detailed and accurate cost estimates.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier enquiries and quotations.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering options.
• Prepare competitive tender submissions.
• Work closely with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support tender strategies and pricing.
• Assist with contract negotiations and clarifications.
• Lead handover of successful tenders to delivery teams.
• Mentor junior estimators where required.
• Maintain estimating records and cost databases.

Senior Estimator - Civils

Location: North East

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Estimator to join an established civil engineering contractor delivering a range of projects across the North East.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure, with the ability to lead tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.

The Role

• Leading the preparation of tenders for civils and infrastructure projects


• Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes and contract documentation


• Producing detailed and accurate cost estimates


• Managing subcontractor and supplier enquiries and quotations


• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering options


• Preparing competitive tender submissions


• Working closely with clients, subcontractors and suppliers


• Supporting the development of tender strategies and pricing


• Assisting with contract negotiations and tender clarifications


• Leading the handover of successful tenders to the commercial and delivery teams


• Supporting and mentoring junior estimators where required


• Maintaining accurate estimating records and cost databases

About You

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within civil engineering/groundworks


• Strong knowledge of roads, sewers, drainage, earthworks and infrastructure


• Experience independently managing multiple tenders


• Strong understanding of construction methods, costs and buildability


• Commercially astute with excellent analytical skills
