Job summary

Lemon Drizzle Recruitment is partnering with a respected Main Contractor to recruit an Estimator or Senior Estimator for their Newcastle office. You will manage tenders from enquiry to submission, handling BOQs, quotations, and cost estimates, with a focus on refurbishment and small works up to £5 million.

Ideal candidates will have a main contracting background, strong commercial awareness, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with clients, suppliers, and the pre-construction team.

Qualifications

• Estimators from a main contracting background who have experience pricing refurbishment or commercial construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of subcontract packages and construction sequencing.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Good communication and relationship-building skills.
• Existing North East supply chain relationships would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of tender enquiries up to £5 million, preparing accurate and competitive submissions.
• Review tender documentation, assess project requirements and produce BOQs.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations; prepare cost estimates.
• Identify project risks and value engineering opportunities; ensure competitive submissions.
• Build relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders to support delivery of refurbishment and small works up to £5 million.

Lemon Drizzle Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established and growing Main Contractor to recruit an Estimator or Senior Estimator for their Newcastle office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative business with a strong pipeline of refurbishment and small works projects across the North East. You'll play a key role in securing future work by managing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, working closely with clients, subcontractors and the wider pre-construction team.

The Role

You'll take ownership of tender enquiries ranging up to £5 million, preparing accurate and competitive submissions while identifying opportunities and mitigating commercial risk.

You will manage tender enquiries from initial enquiry through to submission, reviewing tender documentation, assessing project requirements and producing accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs). You'll obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, prepare detailed cost estimates, identify project risks and value engineering opportunities, and ensure competitive, commercially robust submissions are produced. Working closely with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you'll build strong relationships while supporting the successful delivery of refurbishment and small works projects valued up to £5 million.

About You

We're keen to speak with Estimators from a main contracting background who have experience pricing refurbishment or commercial construction projects.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous estimating experience within a main contractor
• Strong knowledge of subcontract packages and construction sequencing
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Good communication and relationship-building skills
• Existing North East supply chain relationships would be beneficial but are by no means essential
