Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Estimator for its Energy and Rail division in the UK. You will own and develop detailed cost estimates for major energy infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland, including overhead lines, substations and rail works.

A hybrid working pattern is offered, with three days in the office and two days remote. You will lead pricing, review technical drawings, coordinate with engineering and commercial teams, and help shape estimating processes as the business

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator or experienced Estimator in Energy/Rail.
• Experience producing detailed cost estimates for complex energy/rail projects.
• Strong knowledge of estimating methodologies, construction costs, quantity take-offs and pricing structures.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and construction methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of detailed cost estimates for major energy infrastructure projects (overhead lines, underground cabling, substations, rail).
• Prepare pricing breakdowns covering labour, plant, materials, equipment, subcontractors and overheads.
• Review drawings, specs and project docs to determine requirements and costs.
• Conduct quantity take-offs, bills of quantities and cost calculations.
• Assess methodologies, programmes and resource needs for accurate pricing.
• Analyse supplier/subcontractor quotations to establish competitive costs.
• Identify pricing risks and opportunities for value engineering.
• Collaborate with design/engineering/commercial teams to develop accurate estimates.
• Review and validate estimates for consistency and risk allowances.
• Maintain and improve cost databases and estimating systems.
