Job summary

Carrington West is recruiting an Estimator for Energy & Rail based in Warrington, offering hybrid work with three days in the office and two from home. The role focuses on producing detailed cost estimates for energy infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland, with ownership of pricing and cost breakdowns.

You will review drawings and specs, perform quantity take-offs, price labour, plant, materials and subcontractors, and collaborate with engineering and commercial teams to ensure

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Estimator in Energy or rail infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of construction costs and estimating methodologies.
• Experience producing detailed estimates, quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns.
• Knowledge of overhead lines, underground cabling, substations or power projects is advantageous.
• Civil engineering estimating background considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for energy infrastructure and rail projects.
• Review drawings, specifications and documents to define full scope.
• Undertake quantity take-offs and prepare cost schedules and pricing breakdowns.
• Calculate labour, plant, material, equipment and subcontractor costs.
• Review and compare supplier quotations to establish competitive pricing.
• Assess construction methodologies and project programmes for costs.
