First Military Recruitment is recruiting a Senior Estimator for a permanent role at their Swindon depot. The position focuses on governance, bid coordination, and cost-effective design options to deliver competitive estimates.

You will work closely with Bid Managers and Design Managers, developing local rates and ensuring compliance with procurement processes. This role offers strong career development and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant procurement legislation.
• Commercial awareness of different forms of contract.
• Sound knowledge of the governance and procedural requirements for work winning.
• Detailed knowledge of estimating software packages.

Responsibilities

• Follow governance procedures at all times.
• Collaborate with Bid Manager to ensure competitive pricing.
• Agree methodologies with planner and Bid/Design Manager.
• Advise on cost effective design options.
• Price alternative design solutions.
• Prepare labour rate calculations and check quantities.
• Develop local/built-up rates for self-delivered items.
• Ensure labour rates include Living Wage where applicable.
• Coordinate with planner on resource levels and plant.
• Create comparison sheets for materials, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support selection of subcontractors and suppliers for the estimate.
